As some of you may have seen in the Telegraph, Rebecca has announced her race plans for this year.
There so much to take into account when it comes to this kind of decision, not only did Rebecca have to think about her path to Le Mans 24 for 2016 but also the choice of car, championship, budget and the circuits raced at.
After careful consideration, Rebecca and her team are pleased to announce that they’ll be competing in the 2015 Bute Motorsport GT Cup. Rebecca will be sticking with Porsche, driving a 911 GT3 Cup car (gen-I 997, in case you wondered). Turtle Wax will also continue to be the main sponsor for this exciting new step on the road to Le Mans.
Of the 997, Rebecca said: “It’s amazing, super powerful and a completely different beast to what I’ve driven in the past. I’m in love with it already.”
Rebecca will be sharing the car with Kent-based Mike Seller, who has enjoyed successes in the past and is looking forward to even more this year!
Each race of the GT Cup is televised and has a strong media following, which is great news for fans and Project Le Mans alike. The first race of the season will take place at Donington Park on April 25 and 26. There will also be races held at some circuits Rebecca knows very well such as Silverstone, Snetterton – where Rebecca claimed her first victory – and Oulton Park – where Rebecca got her first podium.
As well as Rebecca’s other commitments and training, she’ll be doing plenty of testing ahead of the first race. Watch this space and we’ll keep you up-to-date with everything that’s happening in the run up to the start of the season.
