The winners of the Telegraph Cars Awards

In a glittering ceremony at Somerset House in London the editor of Telegraph Cars, Steve Huntingford, announced the winners of this year's awards.

The Telegraph Cars team chose three cars in each category then allowed readers to vote for the final winners. The Jaguar XE took the prestigious car of the year award; take a look at the full list of winners below.

Last year's car of the year was the Ford Fiesta and while it was still recognised as the best small hatchback, the Jaguar XE took the top spot thanks to its good looks and fuel economy, as well as its blend of comfort and the obvious fun factor.
