The Speed Sisters screening is organised by The Bright Young Things Film Club at the May Fair Hotel on 11 March. This is a special event because it will feature a live Q&A, hosted by Rebecca, with Director Amber Fares and Speed Sister manager Maysoon Jayyusi.
The Speed Sisters are the first all-female racing team in the Middle East. Competing in Palestine isn’t easy but they’re certainly making the headlines. This film looks at their determination, the improvised tracks and gives an insight into the gritty male-dominated world of the Palestinian street racing scene.
The film weaves together a narrative through the Speed Sisters’ lives both on and off track. It’s surprising, inspiring and shows the drive to go further and faster than anyone thought you could.

It’s one of those films that will excite you but also take you out of your comfort zone. The Hollywood Reporter said in a recent review: “When one of the profiled figures in a documentary comments, ‘The smell of tear gas reminds me of my childhood,’ it’s obvious that we’re not in Kansas anymore.”
